what they want to pick, they will pick no matther what you do...
Jesus made a very interesting statement in Luke 7:33-35, when the pharisees and lawyers refused to be baptized.
"For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by all her children.”
Blah blah blah.. when you preach grace, they said you preach easy grace, sloppy agape..when you preach from OT, they said you are legalistic, old fashion, when you preach from letters to church, they said you don't honour Jesus's word...
...when you put on make up they said vanity, when you go for a plain Jane look they said old fashion, when you play louder music they said it's just a concert, when you play traditional hymn they said boring...
You can do all the good you can think of to please people, but when people want to pick, they will pick no matther what you do or say. If even the Son of God faced this, how much more us in this world? But thanks be to God we are not of this world.
That goes back to the scriptural truth, whereby: By the words of the Priest, all controversy settles. Also the truth of Jesus and Abba's good opinion of us! the redeemed ones!
The pharisees and lawyer refuse to be baptised because they don't believe what Jesus said, they were still enjoying picking Jesus and all the so-called 'sinner' in their sight. They thought they are higher then these people, without knowing that the Most High is right in front of them.
Proverbs 14:12 / 16:25
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
What seems right to man (Adam) is the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, the know-how, the right or wrong, the LAW! and God call its end is the way of death!
Let them continue to pick on you. The law knows not how much the Giver of the Law loves.

Let not our hearts be troubled. (ie. Don't trust our feelings) That's how we can overcome negative/ destructive criticism from people.
